After a mock interview with a successful alum of my MBA program he said he would love to give me a word of advice. "The money will be there" he said so don't sacrifice your relationships for more money and a higher position. He expounded by saying that most of those he had worked with who heavily dedicated their time to the job, in an attempt to move up the ladder, were very wealthy now but they were divorced, many multiple times, and few had much of a relationship with their children. They had not given quality time to their relationships and now had little to show for it. His opinion is that if you work hard and are honest you will make plenty of money by the time your retire to cover all your needs and more and you can do that without giving up the things that are most meaningful.

I'm only about 7 years into my career but I feel like I have already seen this is true.
