Tyson was already bored by that point.
Here's the thing about Tyson...he's actually a gentle soul. Cus D'Amato had this unique bond and was able to channel Tyson's physical gifts and focus him into a lightning quick and massively powerful ball of rage.

But that wasn't who he really was.

It's why his prime was so short. He fought for Cus. But it wasn't his nature.

People also forget how great a boxer he really was in his prime. Like Ali...he didn't get hit. He just didn't get hit for short fights...because he got inside everyone's defenses and then rocked that power...

Ali was as good a technical boxer as you'll ever see but he loved the show. He never stopped loving the show. So he was great for years because he loved the stage.

Tyson would have probably rather played with puppies his whole career...but he loved Cus. And he channeled for Cus and his memory.

His motivation was never really internal.

So if they fought once a year for 15 years...Ali wins 12. But if they fought 15 times with each at their absolute peak...I like Mike...if he lands early.

He'd never win a decision over Ali. He wasn't driven that way.

He was a pleaser.
