actually, as great of a fighter Frazier was, he was hardly a generational fighter. And yet he gave Ali all sorts of trouble. Truth is, the conditioned & focused Buster Douglas we saw in Tokyo woulda been a VERY dangerous opponent for either Frazier or Ali in the 70s. Buster was a big, long dude who skill-wise was a very sound fighter with both a dangerous jab & uppercut. His hands were very quick for his size. And he was big-shouldered & worked the leverage game with the best of em (as he did with Tyson).
If Buster wasn't such an inconsistent trainer (I'm pretty sure he suffered manic depression if I remember right) he would've gotten in at least a half dozen title fights had his career lasted 10+ years. Those who like to write him off point to his record & losses, but really, when he focused & got in shape (which wasn't often enough) he was an elite boxer.
