You're right about the seriousness of Penn State's crimes.
But I think the problem is having the NCAA involved at all. This isn't their area. Their job is to make sure people follow the rules so the athletic competitions are fair. It would be like if the NCAA started giving traffic tickets whenever athletes or coaches broke a traffic rule on a college campus. That's not what they're for.
The Justice Department and state of Pennsylvania and private lawsuits should punish Penn State for their heinous actions. Not the NCAA.
