Its their purpose to make sure their membership is abiding by occupational standards, yet these organizations also incorporate criminal behavior into their standards. I guess the NCAA didn't anticipate an entire program being complicit in kids being molested, but that lack of foresight shouldn't preclude them from issuing sanctions based on criminal activity.
