We are a no phone until 15. We have a “family cell phone” that can be used up
Until then for everyone to text on, but they only take it places when we ask them to, and otherwise it sits in the kitchen. It has no browser or other features enabled on the phone- just y’all and text.

When they get a phone at 15, we don’t allow any social media apps or browsers or Siri. The App Store is also not on their phone. When they do want an app, we have to unlock the app and then they can get it and then we lock the App Store again.

No social media in our house until after their mission. On their mission, they have a phone in a lot of missions now days with Facebook access.

Once they are back from their mission, they obviously can do whatever they want, but we are constantly talking to them about limiting social media and making rules for themselves about when they can and can’t use it- learning self mastery is the key.

A couple of our kids could probably handle social media at a younger age, but so far this is what we have done and it has worked for us.
