Honestly, the point about college is something we have worried about as we have limited our kids with no social media prior to leaving our house. I too have examples of families that were so restrictive that it chased the kids away.

With that said, I also have many examples of those who let their kids do whatever and their kids have all gone wild.

We have basically picked the first, hoping that adding to that a healthy dose of sports, opening our home to friends with an unlimited supply of cereal and food, along with trying to be open with the kids (definitely not perfect at it) will help.

Even then, I still think you’re right about the risk. I guess we figured we had to choose one risk or the other, so we opted for this route. Only time will tell.
