The SEC has utilized a fantastic strategy in the NY6 and CFP world.
Mostly easy HOME OOC games with perhaps a single marquee OOC opponent, often at a neutral-site venue.
Only 8 conference games in a 14-team conference. This generally gives most SEC teams OOC records of at least 3-1 and often 4-0. That helps in rankings and better ensures that the best SEC teams finish the season with nice-and-shiny win-loss records...and higher rankings.
The SEC often starts a handful of quality conference games in September, so that they keep interest in the CONFERENCE play early on and better ensure quality TV inventory throughout the entire season.
