play well. You can remain a fan of Ty and how great he was as player and NFL tutor without having to justify the poor results while here. There is certainly an argument to be made that there are many talented and knowledgeable people in many fields that can’t convey their knowledge or skills to others very well because they don’t know how what it’s like to not have the same talent, even if they are masters of the subject and love their pupils.
Also, perhaps his lack of success at BYU didn’t necessarily have to do with football. Could have had to do with motivation, managerial aspects of the job, working with other staff, etc.
