I was neighbors with a qb recruit during this- BYU was actively recruiting 2

Qbs at this time. The first choice for Kalani was Zach. Kalani told the other recruit (whom I know) that TD had assured Kalani that BYU didn’t need to recruit a qb because they had one. This is why the qb I know (and Zach) weren’t recruited.

When it was still up in the air whether or no ZW would commit, BYU planned to offer this other qb. When Zach committed they went back to the other qb and told him they didn’t have a spot anymore.

The offensive recruiting with Ty was not good at all. Ty wasn’t ready to recruit in college.

Hindsight is 20-20. He even said he didn’t want BYU. Not sure that reflects badly on anyone. IIRC he wasn’t an option
