You can blame it on the conference if you like - but BYU is ready to play football.

They aren't ready to play tidily winks with a capricious teenage girl who can't decide who she wants for her date Saturday night. No sense in BYU renting the limo and tux for daddy to call on Thursday and say she's going with someone else to the ball.

Here's the reality - BYU is just asking for fairness. Fairness is signing a contract and expecting it to be honored (like the 3 other contracts they signed with PAC12 teams that were all cancelled to start the season). Why should BYU agree to a "maybe" game only to have the PAC12 cancel a 4th contract this year.

This isn't about BYU being scared. If BYU was scared, they wouldn't have signed those 3 other contracts that your conference cancelled. They would've played those 3 games. Scared is when you sit and watch while everyone else in the country is playing football because you're afraid it might be dangerous in spite of the science and evidence in front of you. Scared in this resulting in you only playing one game before Thanksgiving. You should know what scared is - your conference and team have been demonstrating the epitome of scared behavior since this began.

Wanting a team to actually guarantee they won't cancel the contract in favor of playing someone else two days before the game isn't fear. That's just being smart and practical. And if you can't see that - then don't worry, I won't ever accuse you of being either.
