Well, they need to move up in the rankings if they want a remote shot at CFP.

Who's in their way? BYU, Cincy and a couple SEC schools. They still have a shot if things go their way. Unfortunately, BYU will most likely not lose to SDSU. If you can besmirch BYU, that helps a little. Perception is important. If the committee perceives that BYU is dodging opportunities to play better teams, they could be penalized. Come on, even a uu fan could have thought this through.

I don't think there is a huge conspiracy, but I do think that they took advantage of taking a PR shot at the Cougars — in the hopes of moving Oregon up a spot.
