True. A lot of that is OUTLIERS though. A team of almost any college sport
(think Cross Country, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, etc.) reveals that most of the team look VERY similar due similar workout routines, diet, etc.
BUT, there is usually about 1 out of 10 or so on every team that looks very different from the others. I believe that is where we see genetic outliers.

Another example, I know a lot of high level athletes that work out a ton each week and are disciplined eaters. Most of them have differences in their body types, but virtually all of them have fairly low body fat, great physique, and look generally like athletes. I have one friend though who, while not an athlete, does run 50+ miles a week, and he looks NOTHING like a runner. He is very big boned to start with, and despite eating carefully and well, and running 50+ miles a week (albeit too slow and not enough high intensity), you might classify him as overweight at first glance. Total genetic outlier.
