If so my answer is this.
Because in the course of daily events you and yours may come upon an unfortunate individual who for some reason or another is not eligible to receive the vaccine and yet may be at high risk for complications. And if you have the disease and spread it to them they are a goner. And so we ask everyone who can to get the vaccine to protect the vulnerable among us. At least that has been the ask in past vaccination campaigns.
Our belief in the effectiveness of vaccines doesn’t matter in this scenario. It’s a matter of public health and good will toward man. If you believe in that stuff. Some may say “it’s not my fault others are at risk and I’m not going to do it” and that’s their right.
I’m not for forcing anyone to get it but I think as a matter or principle if you want to benefit from the public trust you need to contribute to it. So to those who don’t want to contribute via childhood vaccinations I say don’t vaccinate if you don’t want to, but enjoy home-schooling.
