Choose school based on reputation of program not reputation of the school
Also, there is a good bet that universities will be 90% back to normal by fall.

Oregon State maybe.. has a friend there

Is he really struggling in class? If so, perhaps he transfers to BYUI? I'm not

the institute at OSU is great

If he stays in his apt only, his experience would likely not be much different

It wasn't clear from the OP, but it sounds like he's back home in Oregon doing school remotely.
supertux
2/25/21 11:29am
Correct, but when he was on campus, it sounds like he stayed in the apt.

BYU recommend students to stay in their rooms, and he is not social butterfly

I've gone on lots of walks around campus. Gives me something to cut through all the boring. Lots of great hikes and

This ^^ Or at least one more semester. It's waaay better

I'd agree with this. Impossible to judge any college based on this year. I'd see if he'd be willing to come to campus
Soupie
2/25/21 11:34am
He is thinking of doing BYU online in the fall, on campus winter
byupirate
2/25/21 11:43am
I'd suggest sooner rather than later if he's willing.

If the issue is getting out of the apt then a change of venue is likely a good

Can he defer his enrollment for a semester or two and get a job during covid?

2/25/21 11:39am
A lot schools are going to not give him credit for classes he will take at BYU

depends on the class. Religion and wellness classes don't transfer. I'd
Colorado
2/25/21 11:31am
That's likely only true for religion courses. Any general ed he took will transfer.
DrBYU
2/25/21 11:31am
BYU unique classes like American Heritage won't. Religious classes of course.

2/25/21 11:33am
That's very few relative to how many are available.

My best friends son transferred. He left BYU as a Junior and went to University

2/25/21 11:36am
Probably just religion & Amer Heritage. Without seeing the classes specifically, that sounds like a UH problem.
Soupie
2/25/21 11:38am
Why wouldn't classes transfer (outside of religion courses)?

It really depends on the school

This year, with COVID has been so, so weird, do you think he'd be happier at BYU
ballen
2/25/21 11:33am
I think so, he went to the 3-4 FHE group event they had.. hard to make friends
byupirate
2/25/21 11:48am
I'd say that you try to convince him to give it a go for even one more semester.

I really really hope so

Remote college sucks. I would get him on campus as soon as you can, the restrictions aren't bad at all.

2/25/21 11:33am
Even this semester has a lot more happening in person at BYU, especially if you're seeking it out.
Soupie
2/25/21 11:35am
Exactly. BYU has done a great job with all of this

In my area, kids that aren't even going to BYU have moved there for the LDS
