Your assumption is that people should only have to work 40hr/wk. Why can’t they
work more? Lots of people do it, especially young people, or they work and go to school at the same time.
Also if you are forcing companies like Walmart to pay people higher wages and give them better benefits, you are just incentivizing them to go to automation faster. And they will have to do that, or go out of business and then all the jobs they provide are gone.
