I believe natural selection from extreme slavery conditions plays a huge role in
modern athletics. The islands had EXTREMLY harsh conditions and extremely high death rates. Particularly those that grew sugar as the main crop.

Death rates killed off many of the weak. Death rates on islands were higher than the the contiguous United States. The conditions were terrible and due to higher black populations extreme force had to be used to keep uprisings in check.

The heat may have had an effect on selection of a slimmer body type.

Obviously this doesn’t discount that they could be using performance enhancers.

To me it’s no wonder why the black American athletes are so superior physically. Jamaica was a harsher environmental slave environment than continental USA and may have played a role in creating a population of super freaky slimmer athletic types.
