Fixing a massive housing shortage can't happen quickly. Even with people renting out multiple rooms in their homes, which is happening, and the government passing laws to facilitate that sort of thing, we're not even making a dent. I work pretty closely with 6 different builders and they are happily unable to build fast enough (sort of happily anyway). They are years away. Likely more than 5 years. That is the low end estimate by economists.
