Granted, there are things gained through experience that most fans simply don't understand, but I'll be darned if, in as many words, I'm going to be called a moron by guys who were tutored through a Comms degree and pulled Wonderlic scores in the teens.

Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta were lousy at baseball (at least at a professional level) but created a revolutionary roster-building strategy that continues to impact the game to this day. I'd venture to guess that the most of the guys in "analytics" that are shaping current NBA rosters and contemporary football strategies (return kickoffs vs always fair-catch; go on 4th down or punt; etc.) were also pretty mediocre athletes. How many food critics are themselves accomplished chefs?

There are plenty of valid criticisms raised by people on this board and Cougar fans generally - regardless of whether or not some of us have played at a high enough level to warrant Derik's respect.
