Stevensen was getting at in his tweet and what this whole discussion has been about. Donars are vital. Fan support is vital. No question. Backseat Monday Morning quarterbacks are not vital to anything and I don't think any coach should feel obligated to validate their feelings. What you are describing in your post is a football program that's headed downward. BYU is not that right now. If you quit going to BYU games when BYU is winning, has been ranked for nearly two years straight, and relevant because you think "coaches schemes are poor" then I don't know what to tell you. Go get a team and implement your master scheme and prove all the keyboard warriors wrong!

Kalani and Tui know that they haven't been stopping the run well. They are watching the same game we are, only with much better seats. As invested as you are, they are that x10000. Their family, extended family, friends, and everyone they have ever met talk about this stuff with them. Their kids school days are affected by the game last weekend. If this doesn't work out, they might be moving to a different state (again). They live and breathe BYU football (all aspects from recruiting to rivalries to fund raising and everything else) while you and I sleep. They meet with other coaches across the country to discuss the latest schemes and nuances and try to find ways to win with the personnel we have. They're on the phone weekly with contacts in the NFL and other leagues, trying to figure this out. And they have been doing it for decades. This is the job.

People who actually think that they have some valuable tidbit that the coaches might not know about ("Bring another guy into the box!" or "You know they're going to run in this situation so call a run blitz!") are either not all the way with us in this reality or have an enormous ego that needs to be checked.
