You don't need to give an explanation.
I have a 23-year-old son. Different set of issues, but he also lives with us. I never stop worrying about him.
The one thing I'll say is that I do believe that things work out. They may not work out how we would like. But eternity is long. It's tough to see them create their own pain. I believe it's even worse for God, watching even the most together of us.
Just keep loving him. Pray for patience. Help him up as much as you can when he falls. You sound like a good father.

My daughter is the same way. I get asked multiple times a week if I’ve seen her wallet or her debit card.
