Someone gave me a book about Buddhism on my mission and I poked fun at the story
of Buddha being conceived when his mother dreamed of a white elephant. I think the reasons I still think about that on occasion and regret it are:
1) I respect Buddhism and think the world is much better with it than without it.
2) I believe world religions are an important repository of truths that cultures have accumulated over time.
3) I see how easy it would be for someone to belittle some of my unusual beliefs.
