So. . . If we take more chances on defense
And they score 7, but in fewer plays then our offense gets a chance to tie them or win by a score? It seems like Indycoug and others are right on this one. I think we took more chances at the beginning of the year and things went back to drop 8 as the injuries mounted. More athletic and healthy players = more opportunities to take chances. Taking chances just for the heck of it gets the other team 6.

BYU's defense was on the field for 880 plays, their offense for 868. That's a difference of 0.92 plays per game.

That proves his point; the defense is supposed to get off the field, the offense is supposed to stay on the field

We had one of the top offenses in the country and still were at a deficit. The defense is the reason.

BYU led the nation in total offense in 1984 and only ran 2.5 plays per game more than their opponents
