BYU rushes 3 probably 80% of the time
Most in the nation, by far. BYU even sometimes refers to a four man pressure as a blitz?
Tuiaki started last year using the mlb blitz more but then almost completely abandoned it once Pilli got hurt. For example, Boise has all the day in the world the first half and builds a lead. Tuiaki finally decides to use the lb blitz the end of the third quarter and it works twice. Then the next game it disappears again.
All this said, the most infuriating part of the Tuiaki defense is the inability to stop the run against power run formations, which is both a scheme and personal problem ( which he is directly responsible for). Nothing worse than seeing a defense not be able to stop the run when they know it’s coming. See all of our losses the past 3-4 years.

BYU's defense was on the field for 880 plays, their offense for 868. That's a difference of 0.92 plays per game.

That proves his point; the defense is supposed to get off the field, the offense is supposed to stay on the field

I don't think Tuiaki is without fault — I just find some of the specific criticisms not to be particularly good

We had one of the top offenses in the country and still were at a deficit. The defense is the reason.

BYU led the nation in total offense in 1984 and only ran 2.5 plays per game more than their opponents
