Week 1 - BYU @ USF
After the long and arduous offseason, the season is finally here. The morning of the game Kalani announced that 3 key players will not be available - Gunner Romney, Dallin Holker, and Chaz Ah You. A large contingent of blue fills the buccaneers stadium as the ball is kicked deep to USF and the season begins.
USF's first drive is a clock-churning 12 play drive with 3 different 3rd down conversions. They make their way down to the 13 yard line where they are met with a 4th and 1 and elect to go for it. Bohanon takes the snap and leans into his line, but is pushed back and stopped. BYU responds with a flurry of quick passes to Puka, Epps, and Puka again getting the ball down to USF's 30 yard line. In his first carry in a BYU uniform, Brooks takes it the rest of the way for a 30 yard touchdown, 7-0 Cougs.
The rest of the game is back and forth, both teams matching each other's score, with BYU taking a 24-17 lead into the 4th quarter. BYU's defense finally tightens up, forcing 2 straight 3 and outs allowing BYU to take a 34-17 lead. USF scores a late touchdown, and BYU kneels the rest of the clock out. 34-24 BYU wins and moves to 1-0.
