Week 8 - #1 BYU (7-0) @ Liberty (5-2)
For the first time in nearly 40 years, BYU is at the top of the country. And in the spirit of independence, they are traveling across the country to play a motivated independent in Liberty who is on a 4 game win streak. Liberty's Hugh Freeze pulls out all the tricks in the book in the first quarter, and Liberty jumps to a 14-3 lead early. Liberty's scoring for the day ends there.
Roderick pulls a trick play out of his own basket, and Gunner launches a touchdown pass to Jaren Hall to make it 14-10. After a few more nice drives, BYU leads 24-14 at halftime. In the second half, Liberty can't handle the BYU Offensive Line or Chris Brooks, and BYU grinds out 3 more scoring drives to eventually win 41-14. After the game a Liberty player smacks the butt of a BYU player starting a small brawl. Jerry Falwell was seen in the stands with his binoculars during the incident.
