Week 3:
Week 3 - #14 BYU (2-0) @ #5 Oregon (2-0)

Oregon enters the game as a 6.5 point favorite, and Bo Nix has been electric to start the season. Oregon comes out of the tunnel wearing the brightest yellow uniform this world has ever seen. The camera catches Jazz Owner Ryan Smith taking notes with a yellow highlighter, likely planning his next rebrand. Puka Nacua was ruled a game time decision, and is fully dressed after a mild concussion.

Oregon comes out of the gates with a 2 play touchdown drive and immediately goes for 2, opening the game with an 8-0 lead. Both teams trade field goals, and 11-3 is the score at the end of 1. Jaren Hall, who had a slow start, hands it off to brooks. He runs outside, pitching it to epps. Epps comes back to Jaren giving him the ball back, and Jaren launches it deep to a wide open Masen Wake down the sideline. Wake, with an open lane to the endzone, runs sideways into the oregon safety, steamrolling him on his way into the endzone. BYU goes for 2 as well but is unsuccessful leaving the halftime score 11-9 for Oregon. To open the second half BYU has another quick drive end in a FG, giving them their first lead of the game at 12-11.

Bo Nix, who has been visibly rattled by the pressure of the drop 8 defense, finally finds a seam for a deep shot. The ball hangs in the air a little too long, and Malik catches up knocking the ball straight up in air. With Malik on his back, the ball falls straight into his lap for an INT! 4 plays later Jaren finds Kody Epps for his first touchdown of his career, 19-11 Cougars. Late in the 4th quarter, with the Cougs still leading 22-19, Oregon forces their first turnover of the night after stripping Isaac Rex. Bo Nix scrambles into the endzone a few minutes later, giving Oregon a 26-22 lead with 1:22 left on the clock, BYU with 2 timeouts. BYU takes the touchback, and has 75 yards to go.

The drive gets off to a quick start with Jaren finding Chris Brooks on a wheel route, who takes it past the 50 yard line. The next play a holding is called, and BYU is faced with 1st and 20. 2 incomplete passes later, and Jaren faces a 3rd and 20 with 48 seconds left. Jaren can't find anyone open, and takes off up the right sideline. He gets knocked out of bounds hard just 2 yards short of the 1st down, and is seen grabbing his rib cage. Cougar Nation holds their breath for his health, and the upcoming 4th down. Jaren takes the snap, fakes the handoff to brooks, and launches the ball to Wake in the flat. Masen Wake hurdles Sewell and gets down to the 35 yard line before finally being tackled. 24 seconds remain. On the next play, Jaren takes the snap and immediately rolls right looking down field. He then pivots, and launches a bomb to the other side of the field. A Double-Teamed Nacua goes up in the crowd and brings the ball down, touchdown BYU! The game ends 29-26. Cougar fans are nervous for Jaren's health going into next week, he gives no postgame interview.
