Week 5 - #7 BYU (4-0) vs Utah State (3-1)

Utah State put up a better fight than expected against Alabama, only losing 41-20 after a 17-10 halftime defecit. Both teams are coming off a short week for the Thursday night matchup, leaving Brooks coming into the game not at 100%. In the first half Jaren is check down city, with Utah State using the drop 8 against BYU. The game is a slow, low scoring 7-3 for BYU at halftime.

In the second half, McChesney becomes the difference maker breaking 2 separate long touchdown of a screen pass and carry. The 21-3 lead would quickly be expanded to a 35-3 lead after a Utah State turnover and 3 and out. Unfortunately for Utah State, their implosion wasn’t quite finished. An errant snap goes over their QB's head, and he eventually dives on it in the endzone for a safety. Jaren has his longest run of the season afterwards, sprinting 60 yards to the endzone to cap off the 44-3 win for BYU. Winning on Thursday night let cougar nation sit back and enjoy one of the wildest saturdays in recent CFB history.
