of the 2017 warriors, then team usa probably wins--primarily because the rest of the team for team USA would destroy the warriors' bench unit.
I'm referring to the starting five photo showed by the OP--Magic, Jordan, Barkley, Malone, and Ewing. The Hampton's Five lineup gives that team all it can handle for the reasons i've stated.
It is difficult to say who would win more games in a seven game series because the teams are so different in style. That warriors team never faced a team with the combination of size and athleticism of that team usa lineup and team usa never faced anything like that warriors offense. I think you can make a good argument either way.
Yes, team usa would dominate the boards and get their shots down low, but the Warriors would force Ewing, Barkley, Malone, and Johnson to all play around the perimeter and that would be a complete joke. The warriors would utterly score at will because they would force all those guys to guard the three point line. Not only would they shoot threes, but there would be conga line of Warriors attacking the rim through back cuts because the floor would be so spread out with defenders that have no business guarding the perimeter. They could set screens to get the match up they wanted, and then they would just blow by whoever that player was, again, and again, and again.
But anyone that says that the physicality would win it for team usa doesn't understand basketball in the two eras. The physicality rules would actually help the warriors because it would give them a better chance to defend down low. The rules would not help team usa much against the warriors as the warriors would rarely be dribbling into a crowded key.
