that whole "Pharisee and Sadducee" comparison makes me bristle...
....in his mind with that comparison who does he see himself as? If that's anywhere close to the case it's delusional.

If Bronco doesn't like the heat, he can get out of the kitchen or step it up, work a little smarter and get back to what he did in the past that worked. It seems like he's lost sight of what had worked for him when he first took over.

Winning for the sake of winning and just beating up on MWC, WAC, AAC or FCS schools isn't enough. Settling for a 3rd tier bowl game isn't enough anymore, not when there are nearly 40 bowl games in existence. That means almost 2/3rds of college teams are going bowling each season. Also there are plans to create several more bowl games in the coming seasons, maybe as many as 6 more. Starting in 2015 there will be the Cure Bowl in Orlando Fla added. Bowl games are like soccer trophies now. Pretty soon the teams will get snacks with their trophies then we'll all be happy.

I think the thing with Bronco is, if he would stop talking about competing for National Championships and undefeated seasons and was just delivering on most of his basic goals (10+ wins, top 25 ranking and a bowl win) consistently most seasons, I think MOST fans would be happy with that. The pro-Bronco fans would because they're happy just winning 7-8 games but the "we want more" crowd would be happy too because in the process of getting to 10+ wins, etc they would be in contention for bigger and better things.

3 things he needs to do to fix his situation:

1). hire a PR guy or press secretary to write his comments and filter his response to media, etc.

2). completely overhaul the way he hires and promotes assistant coaches. He's terrible at it. Coach Anae is a great example he can look to. When Anae came back he hired Guy Holliday, Garrett 2J and Atuaia to round out his offensive staff. All three are money and have made impacts on the field and with recruiting.

3). Get back to the level of accountability and discipline he had as HC when he first took over. I remember him commenting that players were never allowed to get comfortable with their starter role and that every week and game was like a tryout in order to keep guys on top working hard and staying razor sharp. This also kept the 2nd and 3rd string guys in the depth chart working hard and razor sharp because they wanted to take the job of the guy above them. If a starter got hurt we had capable backups ready to step in. During those first years execution was right on most games.
