I just don't see a lot of difference. The difference IMO is they landed Kellen Moore. Boise was 6-0 against P5 with Moore. That means they are 3-8 without Moore.
I'm not saying BYU is a lot better than BSU. All I'm saying is that something we did twice this year (Road wins at a P5 school) Boise has only done once since '05 (the year we hired Bronco).
That's right, they have 1 road victory at a P5 school in the last 10 years. They are 1-5. BYU is (6-12), which is certainly no gaudy record but all I'm saying is that if Boise had played our schedule they probably would not have had the success they have had.
Boise had legitimately REALLY good teams when Kellen Moore was there (they were 6-0 against P5 the four years Kellen Moore was there). legitimate. But just take a look at that 06 team. Their only signature win that year was the comeback against Oklahoma. I'm sorry but anyone that is going to discount BYU's 09 win against Oklahoma should take a long, hard look at the 06 Oklahoma team. They lost to Oregon that year (the Oregon team BYU destroyed in our bowl game that year).
I give props to Boise, and it is clear that they have had better teams than we have had in many years. But the reality is if they played more P5 games, they would have a worse record and would be much closer to 8-4 than 10-2 or 11-1.
