The BYU program as you think it has always been and should always be is the creation of a singular genius - LaVell Edwards.

LaVell is a one of a kind visionary and one of the great college football coaches of all time. You cannot find anther LaVell. You cannot duplicate LaVell. You cannot punish coach after coach with unrealistic standards because they are not LaVell. Only Lavell is LaVell and man were we lucky to have him.

BYU has a National Title and a legacy that outstrips most programs - including most power 5 institutions. That Legacy can't be duplicated. It's not a program that did it, it's not a single players or a group of recruits that did it. The person who did it is an offensive visionary and a coach that the sports sees only a handful of every generation. You can't just hire that. You luck into it and then pray it stays.

Bronco's BYU program is not Lavell's. It can't be. It's a pretty good program with solid resources that regularly cranks out 10 win seasons against moderate competition when they avoid the injury bug. That's a good football program. Probably good enough to be a mid tier conference champion every other year for nearly forever. Good football.

Stop killing Bronco because he is not LaVell. If we hire someone new they have a 25% chance of being equal or better and a 75% chance of being worse (Remember Gary Crowton!) Stop being Jealous of other programs and enjoy what you have because it's pretty good.
