I'll just throw out this unsolicited advice . . .
Your goals are all over the board . . . either GC or AUSA? Figure out what you want to do. Most people don't want a fed prosecutor job because of the money . . . it's typically because a sense "righting wrongs" or launching a political career. GC positions are seldom filled from the gov't job ranks. If you're going to do that, make sure your gov't experience is marketable in the private sector. . . like working at the SEC and developing a full working knowledge of its compliance priorities/strategies. Corps will spend money for that type of experience in-house because they are so focused on "compliance" issues these days. FCPA compliance, for example, is certainly marketable to private business, so experience prosecuting FCPA violations would be a valuable asset. I doubt you'd make an easy jump to GC if your gov't experience is focused on mob crime, non-commercial/financial crimes, etc.
