I ran into this... Hiring committees at big firms question hiring LDS grads b/c

they eventually want to leave before becoming a partner.

This however is not as big a problem as you think. Firms make lots of money off of their associates and they don't mind so much when they self-filter.

Further, if the object is to move into the government, then back into private sector, firm will appreciate your move out even more.

Isn't a 175k salary in DC the equivalent to like 90k in SLC?

Maybe, but for many people the type of law you'll be doing in DC>SLC.

They do recruit, but there are not so many openings that getting a big market

Yes, they are . . . you typically need several years as a federal prosecutor
