I've known several women who go in to give birth naturally, and then give in.
The funny (or not so funny) thing is that a couple of them have waited too long to get an epidural and, as a result, are limited to narcotics as their pain management option. So where they were avoiding an epidural because of the affect it could have on the baby, instead they give themselves (and their baby) narcotics because they overestimated their abilities to get through a natural childbirth.

That said, I don't have any problem against people using a midwife or going natural (Although I think it's an unnecessary risk to not go to the hospital altogether), but it's when they preach like it's the only way to do it or imply that mothers who go the epidural route somehow care less for their babies that I roll my eyes and make a note to avoid them in the future.
