I did not say that hospitals increase risks. Read again.
From my OP:

"you can increase risks for mom and baby SOMETIMES by introducing interventions too soon"

It's not about hospitals vs. home births. It's about interventions that are not necessary being introduced too soon. And even then I said it sometimes can increase risk, but not always. Which is true. My original point is don't knock a mom for wanting to go natural. It can be a good thing---many times is.

I then cited the study you referenced and misread it. But even still when I cited it I said specifically that I was skeptical of its claims because the numbers were too high.

My position has been consistent: Medical interventions in low-risk pregnancies is often not necessary and sometimes can be harmful. In any case, the risk to a mother who is healthy and normal with a normal pregnancy is not significantly different if she chooses to go natural vs. medical interventions. Thus, it would be a good thing if we were more supportive of moms wanting to go naturally. It's not any riskier (from a statistical/practical significance level) and is a heckuva lot cheaper.

The context for everything I've been saying (which you can also see from my posts) is for natural deliveries in hospitals. I still believe it's important to have doctors close at hand for emergencies---but that is my personal opinion and I respect Moms who want to do home births, even though I wouldn't choose that.
