Disagree on this point. Wasn't coaching rather players that turned
the game around. USU coaches out coached our offense and defense in the first half. They ran plays we were not ready for. Triple option and found and exploited the deep slant and 10 to 20 yard crossing routes, not to mention the 20 yard outs, that we constantly leave open (see Missouri game). Can't understand why we can't cover deep outs. Anyway, USU was marching up and down the field on us and we were scrambling. We had a very nice deep pass by Tanner to Matthews and that brought the game to 21 - 17, just before half. Keaton then fumbles on his own and we get a score. Two very big plays, but made by the players.

Anae didn't try to establish the run in the first half and only ran Algie. He is good but Bernad can get to holes and the edges better than Brown. Why did we not see Bernad get the rock, until the 2nd half??? And it worked. And still don't understand why Anae has all but abandoned the short passing game. Everyone go long, every play, makes for a lot of 3rd and long situations. Took Anae till the second half to throw some short passes.

Our special teams were very special made a HUGE difference in this game. Coaches on special teams need a big pat on the back. They came to play. Other than that, it was players making plays, rather than coaching.
