when Barq's first came out, it had caffeine in Utah.

It didn't take long for BYU to get a non caffeinated version of Barq's.

I remember always being able to buy Barq's in the vending machines at DT and they always had caffeine my freshman year. When I got back from my mission, Barq's on campus no longer had caffeine in it.
