That's a fair point, but only to a certain extent.
If someone is in that situation where they have a real addiction to credit and no indication they will change that, then yes, they should get rid of their credit cards. But you have to realize that in that situation they're choosing between bad and worse. Not everyone is in that situation. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water.

So many people are unnecessarily putting themselves at a disadvantage because they think they're being financially responsible, but in reality they are following advice that probably isn't in their best interest.
