Carrying a balance doesnt help your credit score at all. I track it weekly on
creditkarma.com as well as through my bank. They make it very simple to see what impacts your credit score, how much it impact, etc.

That being said, yes I agree. Using credit cards is not for literally every person, but I would venture a guess to say that the majority of people will be alright using credit cards as long as they go in knowing they'll pay off their credit cards in full each month. For those people addicted to spending, they're in a lose/lose situation. In that case, they need to revert to the most basic budgeting tactics to keep them in line (e.g. cashing in your paycheck, dividing it up into envelopes for rent, food, entertainment, etc, so you restrict your spending). I sincerely hope most people are able to progress beyond that point, but as you point out, some people never will. I'll agree with you there.
