Premarital sex leads to fatherless homes... plenty of studies out there that

elaborate on the disadvantages that accompany fatherless homes. Not really much of a stretch to say that the violence and abuse that Neal suffered would be more prevalent in these situations. Alcohol is just gas on the fire of whatever issues you have, so I think the OP's point stands... HC would actually help prevent this kind of situation.
