Revenues aside, a big difference between Indy and affiliation (even G5) has to b
e recruiting. In any conference, HS players from all throughout the the conference's geographic footprint have reason to be attracted to other schools in the conference. A trip to the player's geographic home every other year is a plus for family considerations. As things stand now, BYU's recruiting footprint is essentially limited to Mormondom, with more and more LDS talent being stripped away to P5 schools.
The talent gap between P5 and non-P5 is obvious. The question is whether Indy further erodes our talent to sub-G5 level... upcoming games will tell. Hopefully we can do better than only defeating our fellow bottom-25ers (USU, SJSU, East Carolina, and UMass).
