may be more of a non-sports fan Mormon issue
Particularly those that may take an MP approach to BYU Sports.
The vast majority I've come in contact with while in the military out East and in the Midwest (I grew up and also currently live in the Midwest as well). They all seem to support and feel "tied" to the school in some regards even if they did not attend there themselves but it DOES NOT make them a sports fan or more importantly a BYU sports fan.
