There are over 3.5 million mormons living within the PAC-12 footprint (Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Utah and Colorado), and over 4.25 million in the western U.S.. There are another ~300,000 mormons in Texas, too. We have a 65,000 seat stadium that we sell out conistently. We have a solid hoops program and one of the top overall athletic deprtments in the west. We have our own broadcast facilities, a contract with ESPN and a solid (better than at least 9 of the 12 PAC schools) academic reputation.
It seems incredibly short sighted for the PAC-12 not to discuss BYU when they discuss expasion to 16 teams. Are they really so biased that they can't see the tremendous benefit that BYU would bring to their conference? Will they really allow religious/ideological bigotry cloud their judgement to that degree?
If so...they're morons.
