Have I ever? I have always said that 84 was
as legitimate as any football title out there. Was it likely the weakest schedule of a champion, absolutely. Do I think BYU would have beaten teams like Oklahoma that year, no.

But in a flawed system that settles things by opinions rather than on the field, BYU's 1984 championship is every bit as legitimate as Auburn's 2010 title (In fact when the NCAA gets done, maybe moreso)

I will still complain about the system. There is no reason why Utah's whose schedule in 2008 had many more ranked teams and was much higher quality than BYU's 84 schedule, should not have got a shot. Even in 2004 Utah beat more teams with a winning record than BYU did in 1984.

I won't complain about BYU's title, just the lack of an opportunity for multiple undefeated Utah teams to not get a shot because of the current BCS.
