Before, several nonmembers went to Ricks for sports, and some of them converted. Now, almost no nonmembers go to Ricks, and the number of nonmember baptisms has drastically dropped.
Whether it is sports or something else, BYU-I needs to greatly increase it's number of nonmember attendees, and it wouldn't hurt BYU-Proper either. It is needed for the missionary work aspect. College is a critical time of life where people can be reached by the Gospel. Getting in nonmembers that are willing to live the lifestyle means you are 80% of the way there.
