All points not true. I’m sure that’s what you’ve heard, half of Rexburg had passed that around within 24 hours.
But I can tell you with 100% surety that Bednar was as surprised as the rest of us and knew about it less than 24 hrs before the rest of the world knew.
What you are talking about comes from the rumor mill of old school Rexburg folks that started within minutes of the announcement and went viral throughout the church community within hours. Things like, “Bednar planned this from the start” were heard around dinner tables the very night of the announcement. Thing is, no one, and I mean no one, had even hinted to that before because there was no reason to.
Bednar could care less if you think this about him so I don’t know why it should bother me so much but it does. So frustrating.
