agree. this doesn't account for more significant variables, like

the changing landscape of college football in general (with the rich getting richer and the poor getting relatively poorer), the BCS, conference realignment, rising academic standards, Utah P5 invitation, independence...the list goes on and on. The OP is drastically overstating the significance of Ricks College athletics on BYU.
