When you say "investment"
What money, time and energy have you "invested"? Are you a legacy donor? Or one of us regular "fans"? If you're like 95% of the regular fans, which includes myself, you haven't really invested anything. Very, very few "fans" invest anywhere near what the players (I'll leave out the coaches and athletic department employees because they are paid to do their jobs) invest into the success of BYU and the athletic programs. The team played hard. The coaches gave their all. Unfortunately we lost. We fans, though, got way more out of yesterday than we ever "invested" - even in a loss - at least in my opinion. Last night was an amazing, perfect night for a game. The anticipation all year and then especially this week for the game was awesome. The game was awesome despite the outcome and frustrations. In short, the athletic program provides us, the fans, with entertainment and something to be passionate about.

Further, fans that booed yesterday decrease the chances BYU football achieves the best it can. Booing did nothing to help the team or Taysom. It doesn't help the coaches. It didn't make the atmosphere better or improve our chances of winning. It does nothing to attract better future recruits or coaches either. All it did was possibly satisfy those "fans'" selfish desires and come off as entitled, spoiled, clueless pessimists. So such idiotic, uninformed negativity HURTS and negates any nominal investment those fans have otherwise made or will make if they're going to be so ignorantly critical.
