my point. I am not supporting those who booed on Saturday. I thought it was terrible. I love our coaches and players. It was hard for me to be present when so many BYU fans let the boos fly. While I was frustrated and disappointed at what I was seeing, I would not have joined the boo birds. Yes, they have every right to boo if they so desire. But, it is counter productive.

My point is how the team reacts to booing. I realize it will often stir up negative emotions and players can be likewise disappointed and become defensive. My issue is having players respond to fans in a combative way on social media or via some other form of mass media. Going after any segment of fans with a comment like "you're just fans" to put fans in their place (so to speak) is a terrible idea. If players begin expressing themselves like that on social media, only bad things will happen. They will become angry, resentful, unforgiving and may despise fans even after things turn around. I don't want to see that happen. In my opinion, players should be disciplined and smart enough to keep from expressing their feelings about fans who boo or otherwise do things that disappoint them.

I'm not sure why my opinion is so incredibly offensive to you. If you want to vehemently support the right of players to sound off on social media and write to the fan base "you're just fans" or the like, then that's your right. I am not ashamed of my opinion here and would gladly share it on the evening news. I am an attorney in Las Vegas, Mike Royal, just in case you feel that I am cowardly hiding behind a keyboard expressing my opinions. I stand by what I've written here. You, on the other hand, remain anonymous with your emotional rants and it's your right to remain anonymous. Have at it.
